Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a technique, invented in 1952 by Dr. Michael Pistor, where medication is injected into the mesoderm, the layer of fat and connective tissue under the skin, for a variety of purposes, including weight loss, spot fat reduction, cellulite reduction, and facial rejuvenation. In Mesotherapy, very small doses of different medications are administered in specific areas, depending upon the condition begin treated. The medicine and plant extracts used are obtained from licensed compounding pharmacies. All medications are FDA approved for their use. In combination, medicines for Mesotherapy are used for off-label purposes.

How does Mesotherapy work
Unlike Liposuction, which involves the removal of unwanted fat cells, Mesotherapy involves small injections that result in the breakdown of fat cells. These injections include natural-occurring substances, such as phosphatidycholine, which is present in all living tissues. However, when injected in fat and cellulite the cells become inflamed and disrupted, and their content (fat) gets carried away through the bloodstream and excreted by the kidney and bowels.

How long do results last
Your lifestyle will determine how long your results last. Good dietary habits and exercise are necessary to keep the fat from returning. Since Mesotherapy is a natural process that works with your bodyís physiology, your technician may recommend a change in your lifestyle to maximize the overall results.

What are treatments like
Mesotherapy is done without sedation or other forms of anesthesia. Topical anesthesia may be used if needed. The injections are so small that many patients describe them as more of a nuisance than a discomfort. Whether you are seeking Mesotherapy for localized fat, or for cellulite, only one treatment per area is recommended at any given time (example: both hips, or inner thighs, or abdomen). This is because the injections cause inflammation, redness, and burning about an hour after the injection has been performed. These symptoms last 1 - 4 days. If an excessive amount of injections is used, the symptoms are more intense and last longer. An Endermologie session is performed on your treatment area 72 hours after for Mesotherapy treatment. The Endermologie is an integral piece is achieving the desired result of Mesotherapy. Your mesotherapist will go over post treatment care and Endermologie sessions with you at your consultation.

How many treatments
The circumstances and conditions of the area to be treated will determine the number of treatments required to achieve your desired results. A treatmentís cycle could require as few as 4 and as many as 10 treatments depending on the size of area. Treatments are typically done 2 weeks apart. During your consultation, the number and frequency of treatments will be discussed.

Side effects
Side effects are generally mild and limited because the medication is delivered directly to the target area. This reduces the possibility of drug interaction, and reduces the amount of medication required for each procedure. Localized bruising, swelling, itching, redness and soreness to the touch are very common and will last for several days. Potential but rare side effects can include: Flushing, Vagal response, Allergies and Nausea.

Cost of Mesotherapy
The cost is $500 per session and consultations are free. Session include Mesotherapy and Endermologie treatments. All treatments are performed by our Certified Mesotherapist under the supervision of Dr. Louis Bonaldi.
